Life is abstract!
Reality is in the experience,
Nothing, is, as it seems.
These queries fuel my art practice. In this time of lies and liars, our existence is rot with contradictions, cultural conundrums at the core. Living in between I wonder, investigate, and analyze the pull-push of what I carry with me in contrast to what I aspire to in an attempt to share an honest reflection.
Drawing is an inquiry, painting is expressive, physical - cross-pollinating these disciplines is a way to penetrate an obscuring veil to an encounter with the unknown in an attempt to get at the reality behind the illusion.
Interests in serendipity and science, automatic brain theory and the visual mechanics of perception, disrupts the perception my mind clings to. Questioning the prescribed known I create through a mash-up of inner reflections and outer experiences in an attempt to get a grip on an authentic reality. The results are always unexpected.
A forever optimist, I ask you to look past what you “see”, think and ask questions in hopes of positive conversations about identity, equality, community, to better understand ourselves, to live holistically in this wonderfully bizarre entanglement.
